چکیده

We study an instance-based approach for matching hierarchical ontologies, such as product catalogs. The motivation for utilizing instances is that metadata-based match approaches often suffer from semantic heterogeneity, e.g. ambiguous concept names, different concept granularities or incomparable categorizations. Our instance-based match approach matches categories based on the instances (e.g. products) assigned to them. This way we partly translate the ontology match problem into an instance match problem which is often easier to solve, especially when instances carry globally unique object ids. Since concepts of different ontologies rarely match 1:1 we propose to determine correspondences between sets of concepts. We experimentally evaluate the match approaches for real product catalogs.

A procedure for Web Service Selection Using WS-Policy Semantic Matching

In general, Policy-based approaches play an important role in the management of web services, for instance, in the choice of semantic web service and quality of services (QoS) in particular. The present research work illustrates a procedure for the web service selection among functionality similar web services based on WS-Policy semantic matching. In this study, the procedure of WS-Policy publi...

Centralized Clustering Method To Increase Accuracy In Ontology Matching Systems

Ontology is the main infrastructure of the Semantic Web which provides facilities for integration, searching and sharing of information on the web. Development of ontologies as the basis of semantic web and their heterogeneities have led to the existence of ontology matching. By emerging large-scale ontologies in real domain, the ontology matching systems faced with some problem like memory con...

Instance-based ontology matching and the evaluation of matching systems

The matching of heterogeneous information sources is a crucial task in many different domains. In order to find relations between the different pieces of information, which are annotated using different structures and formats, matching systems have been developed. In the past two decades, ontologies became more and more important as a way to represent the semantics of information in a machine r...

A Benchmark for Testing Instance-based Ontology Matching Methods

The matching of ontologies is a problem solved by many different matching systems using various algorithms. To test different methods or a complete system or to compare the systems among each other a common data set is needed. There are already some benchmarks containing many test scenarios available, but they mainly focus on concept-based matching algorithms or on instance matching (the proces...

Ontology matching by combining instance-based concept similarity measures with structure

Ontologies describe the semantics of data and provide a uniform framework of understanding between different parties. The main common reference to an ontology definition describes them as knowledge bodies, which bring a formal representation of a shared conceptualization of a domain – the objects, concepts and other entities that are assumed to exist in a certain area of interest together with ...
